Fat People
|
Costing the world economy $2 trillion per year, roughly the same as smoking, without any of the tax to pay for itself.
Costing Britain £47 billion per year for the healthcare and social costs; making it a greater burden on the economy than Armed Violence, Terrorism, War and Climate Change.
Nearly a third of the world's population is now obese.
What can be done? Fat tax? Extermination?

It isn't though, but it's easier to blame specific nutrients/foods than to admit to a chronic overconsumption of calories.
Refined sugar isn't the healthiest thing in the world, but if your overall calories and activity levels are in check you won't end up obese even if your diet includes this.
Lustig (like Gary Taubes) is well-intended but none of the research supports their theories in practice. With that said, if people drop refined sugar from their diet that's definitely a step in the right direction.

Well that's sorted then it's the schoolteacher's fault.
It seems that the solution to all our troubles is to regularly elect right wing governments consisting of straight white men.

Mim, over the last sixty years the government has been right wing for easily half that time and yet you apportion all the blame on the lefties so how come?

I don't know if you noticed Mashed but we don't have a labour gov't MIM. . What has been done in the last five years to start changing this? Have schools been given extra support to provide more sports facilities.
You make it sound that women don't ever want to compete.

All I learned from PE was that Mr Buckland was shagging Ms Britt as we caught them at it in changing rooms and Oliver had a little dick and spent rest of years at school nicknames Mag Man or Maggot. School must have been really good for him looking back.

Comma, yes you did. I apportioned blame onto fat adults and parents and said it is up to them, not Big Gub, to sort themselves out.
